The Foothills Masters Swim Team Coaches are
known for the individual attention they give to their swimmers, as well as for the innovative methods they use to
produce improvement within the team. Positive attitudes, encouragement, and enthusiasm are the trademarks of this

Coach Terry "Speed" Heggy
Hometown: Wichita, Kansas
College: University of Kansas
Terry has been involved in competitive swimming since 1963, and has coached Masters Swimming since 1981. Terry was the 2006 Age Group National Champion 10K Open Water swimmer, has placed in the Top Ten at the Masters National Short Course and Long Course Championships, and has consistently won events in his age group at the State Championships for over 25 years.He has won the COMSA Masters Swim Coach of the Year Award, served as COMSA President, and has put together stroke clinics featuring Olympic Champions and National record holders. His team's swimmers over the years have set National Records, won individual National Championships, achieved All-American status, and had National Top Ten finishes.
Instructor quote: "Swim smarter, not harder. Since the resistance of the water is the primary roadblock to speed, it's most important to reduce your body's drag. By practicing the 'habit of perfection' in every movement, we learn to glide through the water, and that's when we get fast. Fast is fun!"
