Foothills taking applications for vacant board seat

The Foothills Park & Recreation District is accepting applications for a vacancy on its Board of Directors in Ward 5.

Board member Lori Bosanko resigned her Ward 5 seat during the regularly scheduled board meeting on March 9, 2021. Bosanko has accepted a more substantial role with her employer and feels she will not be able to devote the necessary time needed to be an effective Board member. Bosanko stated, “I have enjoyed working for the constituents of Foothills Park & Recreation District for the past six years. I have learned a lot about the value the District provides to our community and I am grateful to have had this opportunity working with Foothills’ employees to understand the vast services the District provides.”

Ward 5 generally includes the southern most area of the District south of Ken Caryl Avenue. Click here to view the wards map.

“We’re sad that Lori is resigning from the board, but excited for her in her new work endeavors and the opportunities it will provide her. We’re really appreciative of the six years of service she’s provided to the District as a Board member,” said Foothills Executive Director Ronald Hopp. “Lori has been an excellent board member, and we’ve accomplished a lot as a District while she served on the Board.”

Hopp praised her leadership, of which two years were as the Board’s Chair. The many accomplishments the District has achieved during her tenure include the passage of two mill levy elections, numerous neighborhood park improvements, Clement Park redevelopment, as well as helping manage the recent and on-going service and financial impacts of COVID-19. Bosanko was in the middle of her second term. She was originally appointed by the Board in 2015 to fill a board vacancy, and elected to her second term in 2020.  Her current term is set to expire in May 2023.

According to State Law, the Board has 60 days to appoint a replacement to serve the remainder of her term. However, the Board would like to appoint a replacement as soon as possible, hoping to have a new Board member in place for the April 27 Board meeting. A special meeting has been set for Tuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m. to conduct potential board candidate interviews.

Interested candidates must be a registered voter in Colorado and either a resident or property owner in Ward 5. Please contact Richelle Riley at richeller@fhprd.org to verify your residency or ownership status and to obtain a self-nomination form. The deadline to submit an application is Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
