Park History
According to District history files, Wood Brothers, the developer of the Woodmar Village Subdivision, provided initial grading and paid for the playground equipment. Around 1974 when the Woodmar Village Subdivision was included in the District, Foothills staff installed the playground and volleyball court. The first parcel of land for the park was not deeded to Foothills until 1979. Also in 1979, Foothills traded approximately 10 acres of land that Foothills owned at Chief Colorow Park for 10 acres R-1 School District owned at Lilley Gulch. The 10 acres Foothills owned at Chief Colorow Park became part of Chief Colorow Elementary School, and the 10 acres Foothills accepted at Lilley Gulch became the athletic fields. Originally, the park was called Woodmar Village Park.
