Adaptive Baseball

Foothills collaborates with the Miracle League of Metro Denver to offer an Adaptive Baseball League at Jason Jennings Adaptive Field. The field has a cushioned synthetic turf to help prevent injuries and provide access to wheelchair bound or visually impaired athletes. The field was created because everyone deserves the chance to play baseball as a team member in an organized sport. The philosophy of the league is everyone bats, everyone scores and everyone wins in a non-competitive atmosphere.

Buddies, coaches and team parents assist most Foothills adaptive baseball players. These individuals are children/adults who may or may not play baseball, but who have an interest in helping others with special needs realize their dreams. As a result parents, children and volunteers are all brought together in this program to help serve those with special needs.

The field’s location is within an existing sports complex, Schaefer Athletic Complex, so these children can play next to their able body peers. There is financial aid to those who cannot afford full or any part of the fee.

Register Online – NO ONE WILL BE TURNED AWAY… every child deserves a chance to play baseball.

Children participating in the adaptive leagues will have the opportunity to learn sportsmanship and teamwork, both of which are part of the rules of the game:

  • Every player bats once each inning
  • All base runners are safe
  • Every player scores a run before the inning is over
  • Community children and volunteers serve as “buddies” to assist the players
  • Each team and each player wins every game.

We offer a Fall and a Spring season. We begin registration for the Spring season in March with league play starting mid-April, and Fall season in July with league play starting mid-August.
