This is a non-irrigated greenbelt along the Raccoon Creek drainage. A small detention pond with cattail wetlands and a trail parallel to the creek are the main features of this greenbelt.
The trail runs from the west end of the greenbelt east to Simms St. and offers views into the creek and detention pond wetlands habitat.
Distance: .49 mi (2,600’)
Width/Trail Surface: 8’/Concrete
Difficulty Factor: Easy
Foothills acquired this greenbelt in 1982 as part of the Country West Subdivision Senate Bill 35 park land dedication. The detention pond was originally much larger when it was part of the Bergen Ditch and Reservoir Company system. The pond size was reduced when it was rebuilt to accept storm runoff from the Country West Subdivision.
From the intersection of S. Simms St. and W. Belleview Ave. head south on S. Simms St. to Arlington Ave. Turn right on Arlington Ave. 1/3 mile to the park frontage located on the north side of Arlington Ave. at the corner of Arlington Ave. and Crestline Dr. There is no parking lot and we suggest parking along the park frontage on Arlington Ave.
