2020 Improvement Projects

Alper’s Farm Park


Improvements description: utilize existing 2006 park master plan to provide improvements like a new irrigation system, concrete paths, trees and a small basketball court. In addition, community outreach will occur.

Community Outreach:

  • Meeting was held December 3, 2019
  • Concept plans for Alper’s Farm Park site improvements were provided in February 2020, comments were received by February 27, 2020. Concept plans are for planning purposes only and do not reflect actual finishes, colors or placement.
  • Design team has met and revised concept plans with cost estimates.
  • Final concept plans for Alper’s Farm Park, May 2020. Concept plans are for planning purposes only and do not reflect actual finishes, colors or placement.

Temporary User Impact: some areas will be restricted during construction/installation, specific dates TBA

Anticipated completion: 2020

History: Foothills acquired the land in 2004.  The first phase of the park was constructed based on the 2006 park master plan.

Eagle Meadows Park


Improvements description: replace irrigation, additional improvements will be determined through community outreach

Community Outreach:

History: Foothills acquired the park in 1985.

Kipling Trail


Improvements description: trail repairs and various section replacement

Anticipated completion: 2020

History: The Kipling Trail is 11.55 miles of easy paved trail running from US Highway 6, south to C-470. The Foothills Section begins at Bellview and continues south to C-470.

Lilley Pad Park


Improvements description: play structure replacement

Temporary User Impact: some areas will be restricted during replacement, specific dates TBA

Anticipated completion: 2020

History: Foothills acquired the park in 1973

Schaefer Athletic Complex – Playground


Improvements description: replace the playground near the ballfields

Temporary User Impact: some areas will be restricted during construction/installation, specific dates TBA

Anticipated completion: 2020

History: In 1972, the Federal Government dedicated 90 acres of Federal Correctional Institution land to Foothills.  50 acres were developed into the Schaefer Athletic Complex.  The other 40 acres were added to the Foothills Golf Course.

Stony Creek Greenbelt


Improvements description: trail replacement

Anticipated completion: 2020

History: Foothills acquired the greenbelts in 1984.

Williamsburg I Park – Trail work

Woodmar Square Park

History: The park was dedicated to Foothills in 1977.

Jason Jennings Adaptive Field


Improvements description: resurface field with new modern Mondo surface, correct drainage issues

Temporary User Impact: field will be closed for play during replacement

Anticipated completion: 2020

History: The Jason Jennings Adaptive Field sits on the Schaefer Athletic Complex and was added to the site in 2005 as the first adaptive baseball field in the state of Colorado.
